Agreement to These Terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of the website at https://www.wisconsinwoodinn.com and the services offered by The Wisconsin Wood Inn from its front desk at 224 S Main St, Dickeyville - 53808-6882, United States (US). By browsing the website, by sending a message to the desk or by making a booking, you agree to be bound by these terms.

Please read these terms carefully before you use the site or arrange a stay. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the website and do not make a booking. If you have a question about a term, write to partnerships@wisconsinwoodinn.com or call +13079103858 before you proceed, and a keeper will explain the meaning in plain language.

Definitions

In these terms, the words below have the meanings given here. The Company means The Wisconsin Wood Inn. The Website means the pages served at https://www.wisconsinwoodinn.com. The Desk means the front desk and its keepers. The Guest means a person who arranges or occupies a room at the inn. The Booking means an arrangement for a room that the Desk has confirmed in writing.

A reference to writing includes email and a written message sent through the contact form. A reference to a day means a calendar day. A reference to a season means one of the two periods between the review rounds that the Desk completes each year. Where a word is not defined here, it takes its ordinary meaning.

Eligibility and Capacity

The website is intended for adults who are able to enter into a binding agreement. By making a booking, you confirm that you are at least eighteen years of age and that you have the authority to make the booking on behalf of every person named on it. If you make a booking for others, you are responsible for ensuring that they are aware of these terms and that they comply with them.

The inn may refuse a booking or end a stay where it reasonably believes that these terms will not be honoured or that the safety of guests or staff is at risk. In that case, the Desk will explain the reason and will refund any amount that has been paid for a service that will not be provided.

Use of the Website

You may use the website for the lawful purpose of learning about the inn, contacting the Desk and arranging a stay. You must not use the website in a way that interferes with its operation, attempts to gain unauthorised access to any system, introduces harmful code or places an unreasonable load on the server.

You must not copy the website in bulk, scrape it for commercial purposes or present its content as your own. You must not use the contact form to send advertising, unlawful material, abusive language or messages that are unrelated to the inn. The Desk may remove any message that breaches this section and may block further messages from the same source where that is necessary.

Bookings and Confirmations

A booking is made when you contact the Desk and the Desk confirms it in writing. A message sent through the contact form is a request and is not a booking. The Desk will confirm the dates, the room, the number of guests and any note that the house should remember. Please check the confirmation carefully and tell the Desk at once if anything is incorrect.

A room is held on a room card in the bay behind the Desk, and the card is written to match the confirmation. If the details of a booking change, the card is rewritten and the change is recorded. The Desk keeps a short record of each booking so that it can answer a question about a stay and so that the season review rounds can learn from it. A booking that is not confirmed in writing has not been accepted.

Rates, Deposits and Payment

Rates are quoted by the Desk for the dates and the room you request. A quote is valid only for the dates and the room described and only for the period stated in it. Rates may change for a new request, and a rate is fixed for you only when the booking is confirmed in writing.

Where a deposit is required, it is stated in the confirmation, together with the date by which it must be paid and the method of payment that the Desk accepts. A booking that requires a deposit may be released if the deposit is not paid by the stated date. The balance is due in the manner set out in the confirmation. The Desk will always give a receipt for a payment it receives, and you should keep that receipt until the stay has ended.

Cancellation and Changes

If you need to cancel or change a booking, tell the Desk as soon as you are able. The earlier the Desk is told, the more likely it is that the room can be offered to someone else, and the more likely it is that a charge can be avoided. The cancellation terms that apply to your booking are the ones stated in your confirmation, and those terms will be applied fairly.

Where a cancellation is made within the period stated in the confirmation, any deposit is returned in full. Where a cancellation is made after that period, the Desk may keep a part of the deposit to cover the cost of holding the room. If the inn itself must cancel a booking for a reason within its control, it will offer an alternative date or return the amounts paid. A change of dates is treated as a new request, subject to availability.

Check-in and Check-out

Arrival begins with a check-in sitting at the Desk. The sitting is short and unhurried, and it confirms the room card, shows the parlor and the hearth, and explains the times for breakfast and for the closing of the Desk. Please arrive within the hours stated in your confirmation. If you expect to arrive later, call the Desk at +13079103858 and a keeper will arrange to meet you at the door rather than leave a lock box.

Check-out takes place by the time stated in your confirmation. Before you leave, return the key to the Desk and settle any balance that remains. The Desk will ask whether anything in the room needs attention, and your answer is recorded on the parlor sheet for the next season review. Leaving without returning the key may result in a charge for its replacement.

House Rules and Conduct

The Wisconsin Wood Inn is a small timber parlor, and the comfort of every guest depends on a quiet and considerate house. Please keep noise at a level that does not carry into the rooms after the evening sitting. Please do not smoke indoors, do not bring candles or open flames into a room, and do not disturb the hearth or the kettle arm. Please treat the furniture, the room card rack and the parlor fittings with care.

Visitors who are not staying at the inn should be received in the parlor and not taken to a room. The Desk may set reasonable additional rules for a particular season and will tell you about them at the check-in sitting. A guest who persistently breaches the house rules may be asked to leave, and any amount already paid for the remaining nights may be retained where the breach justifies it.

Guest Property and Lost Items

You are responsible for your own property during your stay. The inn provides a room key and a secure front door, and it takes reasonable care to protect the premises, but it cannot accept responsibility for an item that is lost, damaged or stolen through no fault of the inn. Please keep valuables with you and lock your room when you leave it.

If you leave an item behind, tell the Desk as soon as you notice. The Desk will keep a found item for a reasonable period and will arrange for it to be returned at your cost. Items that are not claimed within that period may be donated or disposed of in a reasonable manner after notice where it is practical to give notice. Food and perishable items are not kept.

Desk Services and Parity of Description

The six desk services described on this website are the services the inn actually provides. They are the Room Card Bays, the Parlor Sheet Runs, the Breakfast Note Desks, the Trail Desk Windows, the Season Review Rounds and the Check-in Sittings. The description on the website is written to match what happens at the Desk, and the Desk will not advertise a service that it does not intend to provide.

If a service must change for a particular season, for example when the Desk closes for a review round, the change will be described to guests in advance and an alternative will be offered where one is possible. The Trail Desk provides guidance in good faith and in plain language, but it does not guarantee conditions on a road or a path, and a guest who follows that guidance does so at their own judgment.

Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, The Wisconsin Wood Inn is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from the use of the website or from a stay, including loss of profit, loss of opportunity or loss of data. The website is provided for information and enquiry, and it is offered as it stands, without a promise that it will always be available or free of error.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Where the law permits a limit, the liability of the inn for a breach of these terms is limited to the amount paid by the guest for the stay to which the breach relates. Please report any concern to the Desk promptly so that it can be addressed.

Indemnity

You agree to compensate The Wisconsin Wood Inn for a reasonable loss, cost or claim that the inn suffers as a result of your breach of these terms or your misuse of the website or of the premises. This includes damage to the building or its fittings caused by you or by a person you bring to the inn, and any claim arising from a message you send through the contact form that is unlawful or defamatory.

This obligation does not apply where the loss is caused by the inn or by a person for whom the inn is responsible. The inn will tell you about a claim as soon as it reasonably can and will take reasonable steps to keep the amount of any loss to a minimum.

Intellectual Property

The text, layout, colours and decorative work of this website belong to The Wisconsin Wood Inn and to the people who prepared them for the inn. The name The Wisconsin Wood Inn and the visual character of the parlor, the beam and the hearth are part of the identity of the house. You may view the website and print a page for your own use, but you may not copy, adapt, republish or resell its content without written permission from the Desk.

Any material you send to the Desk, such as a message through the contact form, remains yours. By sending it, you give the inn permission to use it for the purpose of answering you and, where you have arranged a stay, for the purpose of providing that stay and keeping the room record. That permission does not extend to any use that is unrelated to the inn.

Events Beyond Our Control

The inn is not responsible for a failure to perform a booking where the failure is caused by an event beyond its reasonable control. Such events may include severe weather, a loss of power or water, a failure of a public service, a fire or flood, a strike, a government order or a public health emergency. In that case, the Desk will tell you as soon as it can and will offer a reasonable alternative or a return of the amounts paid for the service that could not be provided.

The Desk will keep a written note of any such event, as it keeps a note of everything else that affects the house, and the note will be read during the next season review round so that the inn can prepare better for the future.

Privacy and Personal Information

The way the inn handles personal information is described in the Privacy Policy published on this website. The Privacy Policy forms part of these terms, and by using the website or making a booking you accept the practices it describes. If there is a conflict between these terms and the Privacy Policy on a question of personal information, the Privacy Policy will prevail.

Please do not send sensitive information through the contact form. If a matter requires the discussion of sensitive details, call the Desk at +13079103858 and a keeper will arrange a suitable way to speak. Personal information is held at the Desk and is not sold or traded, as explained more fully in the Privacy Policy.

Third Party Services and Links

The website may link to services that the inn does not control, such as a map or a travel directory. A link is provided for convenience and does not mean that the inn endorses the service or accepts responsibility for it. When you use a third party service, its own terms and its own privacy policy apply, and you should read them before you rely on the service.

Where the inn uses a third party to host the website, handle email or hold a booking, that provider is chosen with care and is expected to protect information in a way that is consistent with the inn standards. The inn is not responsible for a failure of a third party that is outside its reasonable control, but it will take reasonable steps to resolve a problem that affects a guest.

Governing Law and Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which the inn is located, without regard to a rule that would apply the law of another place. If a dispute arises, you and the inn agree to try to resolve it first by a direct conversation at the Desk, because most concerns can be settled quickly and fairly in that way.

If a direct conversation does not resolve the matter, either party may refer it to the courts that have jurisdiction where the inn is located. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking a remedy that the law makes available. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest of the terms remain in force.

Changes to These Terms

The inn may change these terms from time to time, for example when a service changes or when the law requires a new provision. When a change is made, the effective date at the top of this page is revised. A change does not apply retroactively to a booking that was already confirmed unless the law requires it, and the terms in your confirmation will be honoured for that stay.

We encourage you to read these terms again before a new booking. Your continued use of the website after a change takes effect means that you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept a change, you may stop using the website and may ask the Desk to explain the position that applied before the change.

Contact and Notices

A notice to the inn under these terms should be sent in writing to the front desk. The person who answers will be a keeper who knows the house and can respond to the matter.
